Safra Families For Life AVventura 2016 | Fun Family Race | welovedayout

What a fun race to start 2016. This year the theme for the race was 'Lost'. You must be wondering what do we mean. Well it's easy, the race format is like Amazing Race.

Fun family race at Safra Yishun
Ultra Kids Category at starting point
For a start, there was a 1.6km and 2.5km run for the different kids category. After the run, the participants had to complete 13 stations. It can either be physical challenges or mental games.

The 13 stations were fun and interesting. Ranging from word search, unicycle, charade, mine field, knives on marshmallows, leopard crawl, flying fox, tent building etc.

The area for all these stations were nearby, from Safra Yishun premises to Yishun Park and Yishun Resevior.

We were very impressed by the planning of this year's race. All teams had to start at different allocated first station and the remaining stations were up to their own discretion.

There were no bottlenecks at the stations and even if there was a queue, the participants were given queue number to avoid dispute. So is really up to the participants whether do they want to queue or carry on to the next station.

The children had so much fun every year and this was their 5th year into the race. This year was the 10th Edition of the race and of course the race pack goodies were much better than previous years.

End of the race the participants were treated to free snacks of pop corn, candy floss and muah chee (glutinous rice cake).

Reebok Singapore Spartan Race 2015 | welovedayout

The day that all Spartans were waiting for had finally arrived. Singapore Spartan Race started from Nicoll Highway, passing through the scenic Marina Bay area and looped back from the floating platform to the main village.

It consisted of a 6km run with 28 obstacles, which sounded more daunting comparing to any races that was held in Singapore before.

Thanks to the morning light showers, the weather was perfect for us.

When we reached the race area we saw a mini obstacle course set up for the Junior Spartan. Boy, were they enthusiastic! The kids sprinted down the course, and blitzed across the obstacles as fast as they could.

This is definitely something all kids should come and try.

After the race, some children were seen challenging among themselves and others were resting after the tiring obstacles race.

There was also a complimentary warm up session by Fitness First to help the Spartans to get ready. Looking at their serious faces made me wonder did I do enough training. Hahaha!

At the flag off, all were smiles and cheers anticipating the obstacles yet to come.

The first few obstacles were quite easy to clear. Like the barb-wire crawl and low wall.

As the obstacles were concentrated at 3 areas, you really max out your energy at each of these areas.

For me the most challenging obstacles, were the Bucket Brigade and overcoming the 2.4m high wall. The Bucket Brigade definitely drained me out as I had to zig-zag twice over the designated course, and it felt like never ending. I had to stop 4 times to catch my breath.

The 2.4m high wall was an obstacle that needed teamwork from fellow Spartans. A helpful push is a must, to scale the high wall after conquering other stations of obstacles.

Back to Spartan village, we had to conquer this cargo-net wall which can be a daunting obstacle for those who has a fear of height.

Jumping over the fire was the finale of the Spartan race. This was indeed the most rewarding jump as the happy participants showed on their glowing faces while crossing the fire together as a team or individual.

Overall, this was an enjoyable race to be experienced with like minded friends. To rebuild the kampong spirit and relive some good old army SOC (Standard Obstacle Course) days. It was indeed a race to forge awesome friendship bonds.

We are very thankful for this wonderful experience, and we'll definitely train smarter for next year's Reebok Spartan Race!

F1 Pit Lane Walk Experience 2015 | Singapore Airlines | welovedayout

With the Formula 1 season just ended last week in Singapore, we managed to win 4 tickets to the Singapore Formula 1 Thursday Pit Lane Experience. Please pardon the pictures turnout as I brought the wrong camera out that day. So blur of me!

Held on 18th September 2015, a day before F1 race officially starts. This area is accessible to only Zone 1 and Paddock Club ticket holders, was open for balloting via the online lucky draw on Rev Up Singapore to members of public.

Gate opens at 7.30pm and by 7.00pm there was already a queue forming. We managed to arrive early, but it really doesn't matter because this is a free and easy event till 9.00pm where the pit lane experience starts.

It was a smooth entry at the gate. We were each given a bottle of water, a F1 fan and a wristband. There were many performances at the carnival.

Having fun watching Dajiow dancing at F1 Carnival 2015

Gate 1 closed at 9.00pm and Pit Lane Experience starts at 9.20pm. It was estimated a 45mins walk but of course we took more then that since it was a rare opportunity to be up close to the race teams' garages.

It was amazing watching the crew changing the f1 cars tyres at such precise timing.

Singapore Energizer Night Trail 2015 | Family Fun Running Day | welovedayout

The fun family Energizer Singapore Night Race is back with a blast this year.

Family fun race at Singapore Energizer Night Trail 2015
Singapore Energizer Night Trail 2015
This year the children signed up for the super-duper fun 3km parent and child obstacle course. And they enjoyed themselves thorougly.

The event was held in a forested area at Lorong Asrama (along Mandai Road). The down side of doing the run at this area was, there was no proper parking at the event and worse was that the LTA (Land Transport Authority) came and booked the parked cars along the road side. Hopefully next year the organiser can arrange with regards to the parking situation.

This year was the 4th year that we had joined this event and we must say the orgainser puts in great effort making the run possible.

As we entered the race area at 3pm, we were called to put sunblock in case we get sun burn. Tell me which run's oragniser actually think of supplying sunblock in a race? Kudos to the great minds thinking for the runners especially the children.

This year the kids had various fun games stations which was different from last year which we had wrote about the event here. The children had so much fun with the games that they almost forgot the flag off time at 4pm for the 3km obstacle race.

Not forgetting the free snacks that was catered for the runners too. There were bananas, apples, ice cream and isotonic drink sponsored by Aquarius.

Healthy fruits and food for the family or runners to buy at the race
Stalls selling fruits and food at the race
There were stalls selling fruits in a cup, salads and sandwiches too in case anyone was hungry as the night run for other categories will only start in the evening.

Family runners getting ready for the race
As the runners were ushered to the flag off area about 3.30pm, we noticed some changes to the flow at the starting point. The organisers only allowed the runners to enter the waiting area and it was a distance from where the supportive spectators stood.

We do hear complains that they can't see anything from where they stood, and they were quite disappointed with that. But if we looked from another angle, it could be that the organiser was concerned for the safety of the runners as well as the supporters. It could be due to the overwhelming response of this event that the orgainser is tweaking the situation.

Nevertheless the runners were all ready for the flag off. There were 8 fun family obstacles course in this race. They were tyres, hurdles, spider web, low crawl, the swamp, jungle descent, giant slide and high crawl. The children were very excited.

After the race, came play time and snacking time again hahhahaha. As usual there was treasure hunt for the kids to collect tokens in exchange for some prizes.

It was such a fun family event to attend again and as we left for dinner, some of our friends were already planning for the 2016 race. It was heartwarming to see our children and their friends enjoying so much together in the race.

If you and your family have not join the Energizer Singapore Night Race yet, do consider for next year. There are other categories like 6km, 12km and the 18k night trail for the adults. The parents and child obstacles course will be 1.5km and 3km race.
