HSBC TreeTop Walk | Fun Family Hike At MacRitchie Reservoir | welovedayout

The children were excited to head out for an outdoor fun after being stuck indoors for more than a month from the bad haze.

Finally last weekend we had some clear skies in the morning, so welovedayout quickly drove out to MacRitchie Reservoir for an awesome hike to HSBC Treetop Walk.

We parked at Venus Drive and proceeded from Venus entrance towards TreeTop Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir.

Our walk started with a very welcoming guest of the forest. Seriously the monkeys were not afraid of humans. I think I'm more afraid of them.

So we started on a leisure hike towards the TreeTop Walk bridge. Along the way, we came acrocss many interesting sights.

Of course with kids it can never take an hour to reach. But it was always fun to explore the nature in a slow and relaxed pace.

There's always rest area along the walk. Hydrating and snacking is always part of a hike.

Please remember to bring along a plastic bag to throw any rubbish. We wouldn't want to contaminate the forest with unwanted rubbish which might kill the forest animals.

We went through ups and downs to reach the bridge and finally when we reached, it was an amazing sight.

The highest point of the bridge was at 25m and so our wobbly legs started when we walked slowly across the bridge.

It was a one direction traffic on the bridge and it started off from the Ranger Station via Peirce track. Do take note that the bridge closes at 5pm, so be sure to start early to avoid disappointment.

After walking on the bridge, you wouldn't want to miss checking out Jelutong Tower which has another magnificent view at the top.

It was great fun to be able to enjoy the nature as a family again. Did you have a great fun day with your family? We would love to hear your sharing with us, which fun place did you and your family head out to.

In the meantime, stay healthy.

It had been so long that I can't even remember when was the last time I visited the park. So last weekend we decided to bring my family for a visit.

Upon reaching the park, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the park. Our impression of the park was that there will be birds flying all over the place and poo droppings on the floor.

First stop was at the Pools Amphitheatre where we awaited for the fantastic 'High Flyers Show'.

We were greeted by the amazing parrots that could perform numerous acts. What impressed us was the talking parrot 'Bao Bao' that could sing Happy Birthday song and talk too. Not forgetting the swift flight by the parrots through different sizes of hula hoops.

There was also a parade of flamingos and pelicans during the show. It was interesting to see how birds can be trained to such extent and be able to do a performance in front a huge audience.

After the show we hopped over to the Hawk Arena to watch the next show called 'Kings of the Skies'. Make a guess what kind of birds will be performing. Yup it was the eagles, hawks, vultures, owls and falcons. They are the birds of prey that conqure the sky. The show was fantastic. Our first time up close with these birds of prey.

There was also a 'Breeding and Research Centre'. Here we can see the nursery room as well as the food preparation room. It was a fun way to teach the children about taking care of birds.

The last section which we visited was the 'Penguin Coast'. The penguins were so cute. Wish we could touch it.

Overall, the place was super child friendly with lots of fun learning about the many different species of birds. There were restaurants and food kiosk around the park to satisfy our hunger too. Spending a day at the Bird Park was totally worth it.

Right now the park has some fantastic promotions that you may like to consider for the family. Hop over here to have a look. You may like to check out how to get there too.

Fun Hiking Day Out At Bukit Batok Nature Park

After a downpour, the sky finally cleared up. Today we were going to Bukit Batok Nature Park for a fun leisure hike. It was pretty misty after the heavy rain, making it look cool and inviting.

Located along Bukit Batok East Avenue 2 and Bukit Batok East Avenue 6, you wouldn't miss the big carpark near the park. There were a few things that we did at the park.

Quarry pool at Bukit Batok Nature Park
Bukit Batok Nature Park is famous for it's quarry pool with high cliff walls that surround a crystal clear pond. This quarry pool could be the last or at least the last few quarries left in mainland Singapore.

Upwards trail to World War II Memorial Site

There was also a nature walk trail for families, exercise enthusiasts and photographers to check it out. The trail took about 20 minutes for us to reach to the World War II Memorial Site, round the other side of the Bukit Batok Nature Park.

What was left at the memorial site now is 120 steps leading up to the transmission tower. It was a very good cardio workout climbing up the steps. As we u-turn and made our way back the walking trail, we saw more people coming out to exercise at the park. It's good to see more people picking up this healthy habit.

Of course the park will not be complete without a playground for the children to have fun and exercise corners for the fitness enthusiasts.

This is indeed a nice place for a leisure hike. Good trail to introduce hiking to children. As we descended down towards the carpark, a ray of dusk light brightened up the path for us making it looked liked an Angel protecting and guiding us along.

Thank you for spending time to read and please feel free to comment or if you think we need certain improvements please let us know too.

Have a great weekend and we would appreciate a thumbs up and following of our blog, facebook or instagram which is located at the right side of the blog.

Fun Day Out at MacRitchie Reservior Park | Singapore's First Reservior | welovedayout

Family fun day out at Singapore MacRitchie Reservior
Singapore's first reservoir - MacRitchie Reservoir
Coming back to Singapore's first reservoir, MacRitchie Reservoir after 20 years brought back lots of memories. Had my cross-country running events right at this place and it feels different now that we slowed down our footsteps to enjoy the company of nature.

Activities at MacRitchie Reservoir

Residents of Singapore MacRitchie Reservoir

Over the years, the reservoir has gone through some revamp. There are improved pontoons available for the kayakers, upgraded canoe shed, boardwalks and fitness corner. The boardwalk was a huge welcome addition to the nature trails as we were able to be extremely near the water. Nothing was complete without the forest residents which were the monkeys

There was also a submerged boardwalk created under the active, beautiful and clean programme by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) to enhance the nation's water quality. Although we could not experience the submerged feeling as the ground was pretty dry from the hot and dry weather that we are experiencing right now. But we did get to take a leisure stroll along the reservoir's edge.

It's always a nice feeling to be able to do fun things with the family. As we walked along the boardwalk of the reservoir, we paused along the way to admire what surprises mother nature can provide us. We taught the children the fun of spotting insects and learning the different species of plants too.

As we headed back to the starting point, we decided to take the forest trail. The air was much cooler walking under the canopy of the trees and we were having fun trying to spot snakes. Well, we were out of luck, no snakes today.

The children had a fun day out at the reservoir exploring the different trails. As we sat at the water's edge to admire the sunset, it's always a blessing to be able to spend lots of time with the family. Till our next adventure. See ya!
