There were 4 main areas to explore: 'Worksheds', 'Arena', 'Tinker Space' and 'Tech Showcase'.

Fun workshops for all ages at the Tech Saturday
Various workshops for different age groups
'Worksheds' are workshops conducted in 4 tents for different age groups starting from kids to seniors. At the 'Arena', there were RC competitions held. The children were very excited to check out the drone and the drift racing competitions.

There was also a Kids Hackathon competition and it was very impressive that at such a young age, the children know how to do computer programming.

There were many other activities for the children too. The carnival atmosphere was lively, and the crowds were fully engaged.

Here are some interesting exhibits that we came across.

Overall, it was an impressive carnival for the children to learn about how technology can be applied to daily life, and it's many uses in different industries. It would be great if there were more workshops for children as the queue were pretty long.

We hope the carnival will be extended to two days so that more families can experience this fun event.

Family Fun at Adventure Cove Waterpark | Resorts World Sentosa Singapore

It was a beautiful sunny day to head out and have family fun. Thanks to a wonderful friend of ours, she gave us free admission tickets to the Adventure Cove Waterpark located at Resort World Sentosa.

To avoid the crowd, we reached Adventure Cove about 10.30am. There were 14 sections in the water theme park to explore. It was definitely a place for everyone regardless of age.

For a start there were lockers provided near the entrance of the park and near The Bay restaurant. It is highly recommended to store your personal belongings in the locker so that you can move around the park with ease and the lockers are able to relock several times by following the instructions on the system provided.

Children having fun challenging on the Dueling Racer at Adventure Cove Waterpark
Dueling Racer for the kids

Ok by now the kids can't wait to start their adventures. First they went to the 'Dueling Racer', grabbed a racer mat and challenged each other on a competitive plunge from the top.

It was so fun that the kids went over a few times since the queue was short. Do note that the height limit for this slide is 107cm and above.

After a few rounds of 'Dueling Racer', we headed to the 'Adventure River'. We grabbed a float and just drifted with the flow of the rippled river. The fun part of this river was that we could see many sights like the sting rays at the 'Ray Bay'. Sometimes if we were lucky, we could see dolphins swim past under us near the 'Dolphin Island'. 'Adventure River' has many entrances and exits, to allow you to hop in and out.

Next we ventured over to the 'Bluewater Bay'. We were greeted by a huge wave pool. The kids were overjoyed when the waves started forming. The waves will start every 15 minutes, so there is no rush for this.

By now the children were super hungry. We walked towards 'The Bay Restaurant' and ordered some food for our starving stomachs. The restaurant had various selection of cuisine to suit everyone.

After a yummy lunch, we walked to 'Big Bucket Treehouse'. Over here, there was a huge bucket filling up and pouring over from the treehouse roof and smaller version of slides for the younger children. The children didn't stayed here too long as it was very crowded.
Friends having fun at Splashworks Adventure Cove

The kids were so excited as they approached 'Splashworks'. Here they had a chance to be like the Japan show 'Ninja Warriors'. They climbed ropes to ring the bell, balancing on beams, cliff jumps, crossing tight ropes. Do note that this section only opens at 12 noon. We had so much fun being ninja warriors and were so reluctant to leave this section.

By now the park was getting crowded with families and friends. The children had to skip a few sections as the queue was at least an hour long each. But they were happy to head back to the "Adventure River' and 'Bluewater Bay'.

'Riptide Rocket', 'Pipleline Plunge', 'Tidal Twister', 'Spiral Washout' were some of the sections for the adventurous at heart. For the toddlers, there is a 'Seahorse Hideaway' for them to have fun too.

Family fun day out at Rainbow Reef at Adventure Cove Resort World Sentosa

A must-do for any first time visitors. The 'Rainbow Reef' is filled up with 20,000 fishes, and it allows you to snorkel 1 round in the small reef. But mind you it is a long queue so start early if possible. We did that the last time so we decided to skip it and let the children enjoy the other parts of the park.

Before leaving the water theme park, we walked past 'Riptide Lounge' on the 2nd floor and managed to catch a glimpse of the trainers training the dolphins.

The children were all tired after having such great fun playing at Adventure Cove waterpark. We had a quick dinner and headed back for early rest.

Fun Visit to Singapore Gardens by the Bay | Flower Dome & Cloud Forest | Safra Family Day 2015

Gardens By The Bay, Singapore
Beautiful evening view at Gardens by the Bay
SAFRA Family Day is back again. This time we were going for a fun visit at Gardens by the Bay, Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. Located at Marina Gardens Drive, you can find the different ways to get there here.

Fun day out at Safra Family Day 2015 event
Safra Family Day 2015 activities
Before heading to explore the two domes, we had to collect our goodie bag from the SAFRA event tent located in the park near the Big Trees. The goodie bag came with a passport where we are able to collect Swensens ice cream, popcorn and candy floss. There was a photo booth corner for families and fun face painting for the children too. The fringe activities were quite similar to the last SAFRA family day which you can read it here.

After having some fun and games at the event tent, we made our way to the famous flower dome. The floral display in the dome is constantly changing. Right now we had the chance to experience the Tulipmania Garden Trail.

Upon entering the dome, we experienced the nice cool and dry climate and we were welcomed by the beautiful flowers and plants surrounding us. We spotted many varieties of plants and flowers from different countries, which were showcased beautifully in the dome enclosure.

On the basement level, is where the Tulipmania Garden Trail starts. This year we have over 40 varieties of tulips. We were quite surprised that tulip was the 3rd most popular flower after roses and chrysanthemums.

The garden trail was beautifully set up with charming blooms depicting a range of classic fairy tales like Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina and White Splendour.

By the time we finished admiring the Flower Dome side, sun was setting. We quickly crossed over to the Cloud Forest.

A fun and wet visit at the 35 meters tall man made waterfall at Cloud Forest

At the entrance of the Cloud Forest, we were welcomed by a 35 metre-tall man-made mountain (also called the “Cloud Mountain”) with waterfall. Be warned, you may get wet at this point.

The cooling temperature in the Cloud Forest is similar to the Flower Dome which is a plus to escape from the humid weather outside the dome.

The Cloud Forest trail is best enjoyed from starting at the highest point, which replicates the vegetation found around 2,000m above sea level. Lifts are provided, so we could explore the trail in comfort and at our own leisurely pace.

Interesting crystal mountain at Cloud Forest Gardens by the Bay

It is much better to view the Cloud Forest during the day time to admire the surroundings in the dome. The Cloud Forest is divided into various levels. It consists of Lost World, Cloud Walk, The Cavern, Waterfall View, Crystal Mountain, Tree Top Walk, Earth Check, +5 Degrees and the Secret Garden.

The kids definitely enjoyed the Cloud Forest more than the Flower Dome. They were squealing beneath the waterfall sprays, having an awesome view of the Cloud Forest from the top, and enjoying the +5 Degrees interactive display.

By the time we finished walking the Cloud Forest, it was getting chilly and turning dark outside. We left the dome and headed to Casa Verde at Supertree Dining, just a short walk round the back to satisfy our hungry stomachs.

It was overall a nice and cooling visit to the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.  The tulips were not fully bloomed yet so maybe a few weeks more will be nice to see a full garden of blooming tulips.

For more information regarding the admission price and the opening hours, please refer to here. We hope you and your family will enjoy this place as much as we did. Till the next family fun day out!
