SIA F1 Light Up The Night Carnival | Fun Day Of Activities For Families

SIA Girls at the fun family carnival day
SIA F1 Light Up The Night Carnival
Today welovedayout had a fantastic fun day at the SIA F1 Light Up The Night Carnival. This is the FIRST public event held by Singapore Airlines in gearing up for the Singapore Grand Prix night race which will be held on 19-21 September 2014.

The Carnival, which was held at Singapore’s F1 Pit Building on Marina Promenade started between 2pm and 10pm on 16th August 2014. This event was part of a series of fun and exciting family activities specially organised by Singapore Airlines leading up to this year's F1 night race.

It was a beautiful, sunny day to spend time as a family in a carnival. As we were walking from Promenade Station towards the F1 Pit Building, we saw many F1 supporters of all ages. We entered the building and were greeted by a swarm of people. Cheering and laughter from children and adults could be heard from everywhere.

After watching the display of various sports cars, we continued into the F1 Pit Building where there were more fun activities for our children.

We headed straight for the Kids' zone on the 2nd floor of the building. There were many children having a fun time doing different activities in the Kids' zone. There were remote control race car station, UV painting and wii car games. Available were tables of fun colouring activities for the younger children as well. There was also a movie theatre where the organiser broadcasted the 'Cars' film. Our children enjoyed the show with yummy popcorn and candy floss. Photo taking opportunities were many too for enthusiasts like us!

Next we proceeded towards the F1 pit challenge where the children as well as the adults got to try out as the pit crew. Our children had a great fun learning in changing tyres at their fastest speed.

The highlight of the event was the cars drifting show. The children were so excited watching the show especially the boys. They were cheering loudly for the stunt drivers as they drove past them. Not forgetting the motorcyclist stunt riders as well. They did such a great performance that the show ended with loud cheers.

Our fun family day out ended with the anticipation of next year's F1 carnival. As we were leaving the Pit Building, we caught a glimpse of our majestic Singapore Flyer. This venue will be in our day out wish list.

Singapore Woodlands Waterfront Park | Family Day Out

Today welovedayout explored the north of Singapore. After a light lunch, we started driving from east to north. With Singapore's well connected expressways, it took us only 30 minutes by car to reach our destination.

Woodlands Waterfront is a coastal park and it is a long waterfront promenade that stretches a distance of 1.5km. The park covers an 11-hectare area with a 400 meters ex-naval jetty that provide various fun recreational activities or events. The jetty actually overlooks our neighbouring state country, Johor, Malaysia. Our children joked that they wanted to swim across to Johor since is so near. This coastal park is also linked to Admiralty Park and a 25km Northern Explorer Park Connector Network.

It is a great place for families to have many fun activities. Children are being welcome by a huge playground. The two-storeys spiderweb looking Sky Bridges and Sky Cabins will definitely attract adventurous and energetic children, youths and adults.

Although this fun spiderweb playground is closed for maintenance, it did not dampened our spirits as the surroundings has other activities to offer us as well.

After playing for a long time at the playground, we finally started to explore other parts of the park. Dark clouds began to form. As we headed down to the 400m ex-naval jetty, rain started to pour.  We quickly ran to the nearest shelter for hiding.  And guess what?! It was SNACK TIME. It was so amazing, we found a restaurant in the middle of the jetty. Having a cup of coffee with a fantastic view and hearing the waves splashing, made us felt calm and contented. Ok that was just an understatement, we didn't just had coffee! We ordered ice cream waffles, fries and chicken wings. Not forgetting the root beer float, milo dinosaur and chendol. It certainly didn't sound like a snack time, it sounded more like a FEAST!

The rain finally stopped after our feast! We continued to explore the jetty on foot and on kick scooter.  Along the jetty we saw many fishing enthusiasts. Even the children treated the jetty like a running track chasing each other.

As we ended our fun and wet exploring day out at the Woodlands Waterfront, we made a decision to return another day when the spiderweb playground is open for our next family bonding outing.

Have a great weekend everyone! Catch us at our next fun family day out.

Singapore Sports Hub | A Day Out Exploring With My Family

What a beautiful weather for a day out exploring our new Singapore Sports Hub. It’s a great venue for families with relatives, friends or anyone who loves sports activities or just a fun outing. Today welovedayout decided to explore the vicinity and experience what our Sports Hub has to offer.

We decided to take the  MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) train to the Stadium station which is located just right beside the Singapore Sports Hub and the Kallang Wave.  How convenient is that!

Our first stop was the Sports Hub library.  For information, this particular library is not part of our NLB (National Library Board) group. This library operates independently  therefore it does not accept our usual NLB membership card. We checked out the membership prices and were happy to know that it is FREE for Singapore Citizens as well as Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs). Just bring your identity card down and fill up the membership form or you can do it via online. With the Basic Membership Card you are allow to borrow up to 10 books as well as other resources.  For non Singaporeans and PR, a membership fee required.

What is so different about this library? This library ONLY carries books related to a wide variety of sports, fitness and health. It also comes with lots of fun activities for the entire family in two very spacious levels!

Next, we visited the Skate Park. It is a fun place for the bigger kids who love skateboarding and exchanging skills with each other. Today we had the privilege to witness some amazing skateboarders’ stunts as they were having their adrenalin rush.

Just beside the Skate Park, there are basketball courts for the enthusiasts as well. Families or groups of friends can book a court and enjoy a bonding time through friendly matches.

As we stroll along the hub, we discovered two fun kids' play area.  One is the kids' playground and the other is Splash - N - Surf, though Splash - N - Surf is not officially open yet. Besides the Kids' Playground there is an Exercise & Fitness Station corner too. Good especially for parents like us to do some workout while our kids have their fun at the playground

As we head down to the Beach Volleyball. We caught a view of our majestic dome looking National Stadium. We can't wait for National Day to be held at this newly built Stadium. It will definitely be a fantastic experience, especially for the Singaporeans. Makes us want to start singing an old classic song, " We are Singapore, We are Singapore, We will stand together hear the lion roar!"

It was an interesting sight to have a beach volleyball area at the Sports Hub. Behind the volleyball courts is the Marina Reservoir that adds a beach feeling to this area.  Maybe we should book a court and try, even though knowing we wouldn’t be able to hit over the net. Hahahaha. Guess we would be making a fool of ourselves!

As the day turned evening, we saw more people exploring the hub. Cyclist, runners, photographers, and many others can be seen around.

We had a fun and enjoyable day exploring the Sports Hub. It is a great place for both families and groups of individuals to have a great bonding time doing plenty of fun activities. Not forgetting the love birds!

There are a lot more that the Sports Hub offers, so do check out the Singapore Sports Hub for more details. We are off to dinner now, catch you in our next day out story.

Singapore Energizer Night Race 2014 | Fun Family Day Out

Energizer Night Race 2014 – Organizer’s banner
Energizer Night Race 2014 – A Fun Family Day/ Night Out

Ever fancied a completely different  fun family day out? Give the Energizer Night Race a try next time! The day has finally arrived for us after months of training and practicing. The Energizer Night Race 2014 is into it's 4th year of event. 26th July 2014 marks the day where all the enthusiastic marathoners and families gathered together at Lorong Asrama ( to be exact is in the forest opposite Mandai Lake Road, along Mandai Road, yup you read me “in the forest”! )The run officially starts at 3.00pm in the afternoon, also means hot weather, so lots of hydration needed too.

Prior to the event, participants can start signing up for the different categories from 7th April 2014. The prices varies for the different categories. Each member is entitled to a race pack that consists of exciting items like an Energizer head lamp with batteries, Singapore Night Trail runners' T-shirt, Schick discount voucher, Finisher medal, Treasure hunt ticket and ESNT souvenir.

What is so special about this trail run? For a start, we are talking about a fun family activity, so there is a family category, YEHHHHHH. The family category (Parent & Child Obstacle Race) enables 1 parent and 1 child to participate together. There are 2 choices of distance, i.e. the 1.5km and 3km trail. During the trail run, the participants will have to conquer a few obstacles courses like tyres, hurdles, the swamp, jungle descent, giant slide, high crawl etc. Nothing is too difficult for the children though. Don't worry if your legs or shoes get dirty as this year they provided a washing area for cleaning up.

It was such a joy to see many families doing fun things together. There were cheerleaders around (other parents hehhhehe) and other marathoners cheering for the young children. The smiles and the enthusiasm expressions on the children’s faces tell you how much they love to run with their parents. Hint ! Hint ! Parents.

Personally, I would HIGHLY recommend parents to sign up this event with their children. It is truly a time to promote parent-child bonding, and a time to realise your child's abilities and limitations. To our children, this will be an event that will be treasured in their hearts for a long time. At the same time, you will be glad to know that this is an altruistic event; the company will donate S$2 to SportCares for every signed up participant.

A fun family activity promoting parent-child bonding
Of course there are other categories like 3km open obstacle race (for the individual adult) or the 6km, 12km & 18km trail race. We didn't stay too long to witness the start of the other categories as there are other activities around the premises. YIPPEE for more fun games for the children and entire family. The treasure hunting station is the best activity for most children, therefore the queue was quite long. Fret not, as 20 children are allowed per round of hunting, the queue moves pretty fast. Why do I say this station is the hightlight? Well in the treasure hunt, the children are supposed to collect different value of the tokens. When the time's up, they can use these tokens to exchange some gifts. There are also a raging bull machine and the trampoline station, etc. Therefore, the fun with the entire family is rather endless.

Thumbs up for the company. The organiser did a fantastic job for this yearly event. There are game stations around for the children to have a blast of their time, FREE Aquarius isotonic drinks for the thirsties, FREE ice cream for the participants, FREE fruits, FREE cereals, by the time we had all these snacks, we were not hungry for dinner anymore. If in the event anyone is still hungry, don't panic ! Yup, you might have guessed it. This year we have The Travelling Chef on Wheels (C.O.W)  at the event. Didn't really try the food as we were so full from all the free snacks.

As the evening starts to seep in, more of the night marathoners started to arrive at the scene. It is also time for us to say goodbye as we ended the day with an accomplished feeling. We thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic fun day out with the entire family.

More information of the race is at the following links below. Hope to see everyone at the 2015 Energizer Night Race. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a blessed week everyone.
