With the Formula 1 season just ended last week in Singapore, we managed to win 4 tickets to the Singapore Formula 1 Thursday Pit Lane Experience. Please pardon the pictures turnout as I brought the wrong camera out that day. So blur of me!
F1 Pit Lane Experience in Singapore
Held on 18th September 2015, a day before F1 race officially starts. This area is accessible to only Zone 1 and Paddock Club ticket holders, was open for balloting via the online lucky draw on Rev Up Singapore to members of public.
Gate opens at 7.30pm and by 7.00pm there was already a queue forming. We managed to arrive early, but it really doesn't matter because this is a free and easy event till 9.00pm where the pit lane experience starts.
It was a smooth entry at the gate. We were each given a bottle of water, a F1 fan and a wristband. There were many performances at the carnival.
Dajiow in action
The children were enjoying themselves at the Village Stage, where Boys in the Band gave a superb performance as well as Dajiow (Michael Jackson's impersonator) showing some slick dance moves, while waiting to assemble for the Pit Lane Experience.
Dancing Fire Performance at F1 Singapore
Around the F1 village @ Zone 1 there were performances from 'The Dancing Fire', 'Bloco Singapura' and 'Fiesta Tropicale'. Every performances were amazing and entertaining.

Pit Wall at Singapore F1 Night Race 2015
Gate 1 closed at 9.00pm and Pit Lane Experience starts at 9.20pm. It was estimated a 45mins walk but of course we took more then that since it was a rare opportunity to be up close to the race teams' garages.
It was amazing watching the crew changing the f1 cars tyres at such precise timing.
Spotted Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari garage
We were lucky to spot Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari pit checking his car before the practice session starts on Friday.

2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix balloon
It was really a fantastic experience not to be missed since we can't afford to get the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix tickets. We truly enjoyed it. Hopefully we can be blessed with some media passes to cover the 2016 Formula 1 race! Till the next welovedayout everyone!
Can you believe it, I have not been to Pulau Ubin before. Had been resisting it when my boys keep asking me to go. Finally last weekend I gave in and went with them. Best decision that I had made for the day.
Pulau Ubin is situated just off the north-eastern corner of mainland Singapore. This island houses the last few villages in Singapore.
Changi Point Ferry Terminal
Bum boats to Pulau Ubin
Interior of Bum boat
The only way to reach Pulau Ubin was to take the bum boats services from Changi Point Ferry Terminal which is at Changi Village. The ride took only 10 minutes and the costs per person is S$2.50 per trip. Beautiful scenery along the way to Pulau Ubin.
Life in Pulau Ubin
Once reach the island, we felt the pace of life just slowed down. Island dogs strolling along welcoming visitors. Today's highlight was to check out Chek Jawa Wetlands and the observation tower.
In order to do so, the best and fastest way to move around the island is to rent a bicycle. The rental range from S$6 - S$12 and there were many rental shops to choose from.
Rustic Life in Pulau Ubin
Once we had our bicycles. We started our journey towards the eastern side of the island. Some parts were proper road, some parts were gravel roads. Do wear proper walking shoes or track shoes when visiting Pulau Ubin.
Entrance of Chek Jawa Wetlands
Once we reached Chek Jawa Wetlands, we were welcome by the wild boars. Don't panic! As long as you don't disturb them they will not attack you as they were only looking for food. We parked our bicycles and from the gate inwards will be on foot.
House No.1 at Pulau Ubin
First stop, we came across a beautiful revamped cottage called House No.1. It has a long history and currently this cottage's fireplace is likely the only working fireplace in Singapore.
Back of House No.1 at Pulau Ubin
At the back of the cottage lies an amazing view of the sea and the jetty.
We continued on along the coastal broad walk and saw some sea creatures and plants as it was considered low tide. We spent quite a while at the broadwalk enjoying the beauty of nature around us.
Nipah found on the mangrove
Next stop was the Mangrove boardwalk. Here we saw an interesting plant called 'Nipah'. The palm's immature seed is mainly found in our local dessert, called 'attap chee'.
Jejawi Tower at Pulau Ubin
Final stop was the Jejawi Tower. Definitely a must to climb the stairs otherwise you will miss the fantastic view provided at that height. It was also our resting point for snacks and drinks.
Plane passing Pulau Ubin
The sky was pretty busy with planes passing by every few minutes and a favorite for my little one to take planes photos.
Sensory Trail at Pulau Ubin
After descending, we slowly made our way back to the bicycles and cycled back to the main part of the island. Along the way we passed by some interesting trails for our next trip to check out.
One of the food stall in Pulau Ubin
Sat down at one of the store to have a cooling drink before heading back to Singapore island.
Pulau Ubin house
Another rustic house in Pulau Ubin
Pulau Ubin is the only island that still has local residents residing. I guess they will never want to leave this serene place.

End of Pulau Ubin adventure
It is definitely a fun place to bring children for a visit instead of being stuck at home with tablets and phone. Do remember to hydrate yourself well and bring insect repellent too. Sunblock is a must if you don't want to get sunburn at the end of the day. See you at the next fun day out!
