Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Entrance |
To make a healthy new start as a family for the year 2015, welovedayout decided to explore the new extension of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.
Located at the north end of Singapore, it was a beautiful nature place to explore with the kids. As we know Singapore is lacking of nature parks, we were glad that Nparks built up this area to conserve it. We started from the new Visitor Centre which is located nearer to Kranji Carpark C.
There were 5 trails in the new wetland extension area. Mainly the 'Coastal Trail', 'Forest Trail', 'Mid-Canopy Walk' and the 'Migratory Bird Trail'.It will not be complete without the 'Junior Adventure Trail' too.
Junior Adventure Trail |
As usual we were stuck at the 'Junior Adventure Trail' for a while as the kids were playing. The children had so much fun at the 'Pulley Boat' challenging each other's speed. 'Step and Jump' was good for the younger ones to learn balancing as they moved from one step to the other. 'Up and Down' was pretty simple for the children as they played catching.

We were glad that it was low tide when we started the trail. We could see many mud skippers, crabs and many others in the mangrove.
We stop by Musang hut for a quick break and that was where we saw a crocodile swimming towards us silently. The kids were very excited as it was their first time seeing a crocodile in a natural setting. It was too fast for our camera to capture the scene, as it decided to submerge once it heard our excited whispers.

We continued our journey and arrived at the 'Mud Experience'. It can only be done during low tide, we walked along the descending rope bridge till we reached the mud flats. Only chance you will let your kids walk on mud, all in the name of nature education.
As we reached the last observation pods, rain started to drizzle. We had a quick look around and headed back towards our start point.
We would strongly recommend to head over to the wetland to enjoy mother nature. Lots of things to learn and discover along the way. There are guided tours available too. Do remember to bring along mosquito repellent and umbrella as sometimes there are unexpected rainfall. Wear comfortable shoes to enjoy the hiking too.
